Do you have children 8-12 years old? Are you worried they might be
unhealthy or overweight?
MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition...Do it!) is a free fun programme
for 8 - 12 year olds to help them become fitter, healthier and
happier. It gets kids healthy and fit in only 10 weeks - and helps
them stay that way! The MEND programme is offered in the north and the south of the
Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea during term time and is
aimed at families living in the borough or children who attend
school or have a GP in the borough. The programme at Courtneys is
made up of a two hour session, held twice a week for 10 weeks. The
sessions include practical lessons on eating and exercise habits
and aim to improve children's fitness, physical activity levels,
nutrition and self-esteem. Topics covered over the 10 week programme
include: o MIND - Behaviour change techniques for parents and children
including how to manage food cravings and food triggers o EXERCISE - Physical activity including fun water and land based
activities o NUTRITION - Healthy eating for families and children including
how to choose more MEND friendly foods and how to understand food
labels o DO IT! - Motivation and support to live healthier, more active
lives. All of these elements help families lead healthier lives,
contributing to national and international efforts to prevent and
treat obesity in children. For more
